Hogar Niños de Dios
A Campaign for Children With Disabilities Who Have Been Abandoned in the Dominican Republic
Living With a Disability in the Dominican Republic
Due to the lack of access to early intervention programs and therapies, many children develop extreme presentations of their disability that, when left untreated, lead to premature mortality.
In the Dominican Republic, many children with disabilities are abandoned because their parents are unable to provide them with the care they need to survive.
But Every Life is One Worth Living
Every child who comes into this world is a gift. Regardless of “ability”, every person has the right to a life of joy, hope, and dignity. Mustard Seed Communities provides lifelong care to children with disabilities who have nowhere else to go.
Established in the Dominican Republic in 2001, Mustard Seed Communities is currently home to 48 residents. When you enter a Mustard Seed Communities home, you immediately notice it is a place of hope and vitality. Children know they are loved; as a result, they thrive, experiencing life to its fullest.

The Need is Greater Than Ever
Though there is an urgent need for care for children with disabilities in the Dominican Republic, our current home is at full capacity. Additionally, we are faced with medical challenges: the local children’s hospital is over 90 minutes away and maternal health is still scarce in the Dominican Republic. The lack of adequate prenatal care leads to preventable disabilities.
For these reasons we have embarked on a historic campaign to build our second home called Hogar Niños de Dios. Thanks to a generous donation, Mustard Seed Communities purchased two acres of land in 2019 in Santiago, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, to build a future home for 56 children with disabilities.
This campaign will allow us to provide a home for children with disabilities where they can live lives of joy, hope, and dignity. It will mobilize a community to care for the most vulnerable individuals among them now and into the future.
We invite you to join us on this mission. The lives of children with disabilities and the surrounding communities will be forever changed because of you.
